just intalled ubuntu 13.10 on a new disk (old one crapped out) in panasonic cf-50 computer. everything seems fine except the i can't seem to get the network to come up.
the ethernet port is hard wired into the router, which connects fine to all my other wireless computers. going to the little blank antenna pattern sector icon on the task bar, i set up the mac address for eth0 and save, but nothing happens. sudo ifconfig eth0 up produces the little icon sector rings, and i then get into the local net, the router, my local net website, etc, but can't get out. route is blank, so i add the router address as the default. resolv.conf is blank (except for the comment) so i add 127.0.1.1, which is what shows up on this computer which works, but that doesn't help either. i'm obviously missing something fundamental -- any help will be appreciated. ole dan j. daniel moylan 84 harvard ave brookline, ma 02446-6202 617-232-2360 (tel) [email protected] www.moylan.us [avoid html waste.] _______________________________________________ Discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.blu.org/mailman/listinfo/discuss
