Hey folks, My team at Akamai currently has a couple of Linux OS related positions available that may be right up the alley of some of you. We are responsible for the customized Linux distribution that runs on our 140k+ servers deployed around the world. The distribution is based upon a Debian derivative, so a good understanding of debian package management/development would be extremely useful. Senior Systems Software Engineer: https://jobs-akamai.icims.com/jobs/8581/job About the Job Akamai's System Communications team is looking for a talented Senior Software Engineer to join our Platform Engineering team. You will be responsible for developing critical software components that form the foundation of Akamai's globally distributed platform. Effectiveness in this role involves interfacing with engineers from across the company, providing the opportunity to develop a broad understanding of Akamai's systems. If you want to work on technology problems that are interesting and challenging, then this role is for you. The ideal candidate has a strong Linux background and is highly motivated to design and develop innovative solutions using Python, Perl, C, SQL and Java. The engineer should take pride in writing maintainable and highly reliable code. This person should be able to understand the big picture of the system and be able to solve complicated problems within that system. This person will work closely with other engineers at the company and should be able to conduct design and code reviews. Basic Qualifications *Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience. *5+ years experience with Python, Perl, or C++ on Linux or Unix based OS. *5+ years experience working with Internet protocols including TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS. *5+ years experience building scalable servers or distributed systems. Desired Qualifications *Masters or PhD in Computer Science or related field with a focus on networking, distributed systems, system architecture, or secruity. *Proven track record of delivering large amounts of high quality, complex code. *Highly responsible, self-disciplined, self-managed, sel-motivated, able to work with little or no supervision. *Extensive experience working on multiple projects at a time in a fast paced, results oriented environment. *Excellent written and verbal communications skills. *Experience with databases and SQL *Experience with network security and technologies such as GPG, SSL, SSH, PKI About Akamai: Akamai® is the leading cloud platform for helping enterprises provide secure, high-performing user experiences on any device, anywhere.
