I seem to recall once when I was experimenting with gmane a long time ago that if I posted to a list that I wasn't subscribed to, I would get an email 'confirmation' from gmane, and once I confirmed, my message to the list was sent. I also seem to recall it wasn't a once-per-message confirmation, but it wasn't a one-time either...
