Not true at all in the real world, due to not absolutely perfect
compatibility (which is impossible to achieve). See what I wrote about
the "educator" quoted in the recent Microsoft video:

the part that proves that (unfortunately, of course), you should not
be surprised if students have problems to use OOo at home, starts at
item 3 of the list: "Schools often help to enforce this dependency"
