Perhaps we should just consider to change the help system from the
proprietary html-wanne-be system to a pure HTML based system. I think
such
systems already exists in license compatible versions. But I'm not sure.
The current help system is fully documented in the OOo2HelpAuthoring.pdf
and in Developers Guide. I would not call it proprietary. It has some
advantages over a pure HTML based system, such as embedding and index
handling.

Moreover, if we kept the current format, we could merge fixes and
improvements from OOo. There are many helpcontent CWS-es waiting for
integration, I think those are valuable for us.

On the other hand, though, a wiki help system would be quite a lot easier to
edit for those that want to contribute. It would also be nice to have a
synchronized online and offline help system.

I'd say this content should exist in a web language, anyway, because LibO
really should have an online help resource...

Cheers,
Andras

Yes, but *please* there *must* be complete help available off-line. It's not always that one can get to the net; and sometimes connections are slow and/or expensive. There is really very little that is more frustrating than to be told to connect to xyz.com for help with what should be a purely local process such as editing a document. In a hotel room for tomorrow's key meeting, for example.
