Hi Terri. This is a time of transition. LibreOffice will be the WAY TO
GO from here
on out....but at THIS TIME, I would install OpenOffice 3.2.1, get
familiar with it.....and USE
it. It's a great piece of software.
The next release....3.3.0 is imminent. If OpenOffice 3.3.0 comes out
first...I would hold
off....and then install LibreOffice 3.3.0 when it comes out late this
month or early December
and just stay with it.
It will be the most advanced and feature rich free Office software
available..and already
incorporates many enhancements that the "vanilla" OpenOffice doesn't
have....but I wouldn't
recommend beta software for regular use (although I am using it and have
had no problems....)
I DO think, contra from what I just wrote, that Beta 3 should be pretty
safe and will come out within
days...so if you want....trash all I said...install beta 3 (or whatever
they will call it) and enjoy
LibreOffice and it's rapid advancement as so many developers are working
on it as
I write...

Hello! I've been lurking for a couple of weeks and am a new user to
open office. I would classify myself as just an average everyday sort
of user. I have joined several of the mailing lists and read all of
them. Often times I can follow along and learn stuff, but often times
everything is way over my head. My question to the List is being a
beginning user, should I uninstall Open Office and now install Libra
Office? Should I wait until more of the bugs are worked out? Thank
you for all the hard work that several of you have put in so that many
of us average users can benefit from it.
Sincerely,
