My own issues with Sakai were 1) it's java so it's harder to get people to 
maintain vs Moodle. 2) it is more about tools for teaching and collaboration 
and very difficult to navigate for people who want to post content. 3) I hated 
the wiki ;)

Sakai is great - we went with Moodle for a few reasons. I'd be glad to share 
them with you in more detail if you like.
