Being a Gitorious enthusiast in the past, my mind has changed. Gitorious is a centralized service as well – I can’t use my account anywhere else nor do I know that they actually run the code they purportedly do because I don’t control the server. Also, everyone is saying »github could block you out or shut down any minute« (for a similar reason why Linus developed git in the first place) – but so can Gitorious. In fact, they have more downtime and more annoyances than Github.
My experience of Gitorious is different from yours, but that doesn't invalidate it. What I would say is that as a matter of principle for a free culture organization, it is better to support free software. And
Gitorious is free software. You can run your own instance if needs be. - Rob. _______________________________________________ Discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.freeculture.org/mailman/listinfo/discuss FAQ: http://wiki.freeculture.org/Fc-discuss
