Thanks Rich! This is pretty cool-- something else that might be cool would be to build this into an effective directory of free software projects. There are some good open source hackernews alternatives that just need people to switch, as is always the problem https://github.com/dengzhp/lusernews or https://github.com/antirez/lamernews
Something like http://alternativeto.net/ would be ideal if it were (a) free software (b) promoted the free alternatives and (c) didn't use "free software" to mean free as in free beer. Then, if something doesn't have a good alternative, it would be easy to tally demand for one!
