Excel2010がないので再現環境と少し異なりますが，以下の状況で再現します。
・Excel2003で中黒点を含むシート名を参照したファイルをxlsx形式で保存する
・LibreOfficeで開く
Excel2003でxls形式で同様のファイルを保存したものについては，
$'（中黒点付きシート名）'
と変換され，正常に表示されます。
xlsxファイル形式の問題ですかね…。
