As long as cool things from Sitepoint are topics of discussion, I think the Catfish footer-popup is pretty interesting, it could probably be done in jQuery as well: http://www.sitepoint.com/blogs/2005/10/18/the-catfish-part-1/ It's kind of annoying as an add, but I could imagine an interesting popup "console" type thing.
