Good point, good suggestion! Could you take a look at this guide, and maybe 
show it to your designer? ->

There is also a part about plugin writing, that is somewhat redundant compared 
with the current Authoring guide. But maybe the plugin writing part in the 
getting started guide could be improved to aim for your mentioned audience, and 
point at the authoring guide for others.
