Yehuda,
Actually, I work with the Javascript object created by the parse.js
utility script, not the final XML-ized output of docs.js.
The docs/data directory contains JSON dumps of this object that make for
a handy reference (which I should have studied more closely...).
I fixed a couple of the problems - iText, the PDF-generating library I'm
using, respects line-breaks ("\n"); my problem was distinguishing
between significant line-breaks (for example, used to format an HTML
structure) to line-breaks that are only there to wrap the text in the
source file. I solved this by adding a few more passes over the text -
first I escape the double line-breaks and line-breaks followed by spaces
or tabs, then I convert the remaining line-breaks to spaces, and then I
restore the escaped line-breaks.
Looking at some examples (the documentation of the remote and tabs
plugins, for instance), it seems to work - I've updated my PDFs and my
script.
Thanks,
-Dotan
