Another member of the Executive Council, Ethan White, has also recently published a blog post <https://carpentries.org/blog/2018/09/executive-committee-structure/> that describes the composition, roles, and responsibilities of the Executive Council (and other related non-profit boards), which may be useful background if you are unfamiliar with these governance structures.
