Hi everyone, Central European University is organizing a data journalism summer school <https://summeruniversity.ceu.edu/interviewing-your-data-2021> for junior investigative journalists, primarily from the Central and Eastern Europe region. The 5-day course will take place online, June 14-18. The goal is to give an introduction to the tools and methods of the data journalism landscape.
We are looking for an instructor in *either* of the two topics below: 1. Introduction to web scraping with point and click tools and maybe minimal coding. 2. Data cleaning with OpenRefine. Other topics of the course include finding the story in the data, ethical and journalistic concerns, data visualization and introduction to networked data. Each topic is covered in one day, as part of a weekly project that students are working on. Live Zoom sessions are planned for 11am-1pm Central European Time and 4-5pm CET. Students are working in groups in between. If you are interested in joining as an instructor, please let me know at [email protected] to discuss the details.
