Same here - I have a lot of stuff which I started writing back on SunOS
using ditroff, and it's nice that it all still works like it did
originally - I doubt many other document formats have lasted so long. It
was slightly annoying that Sun missed out pic when doing the Solaris
port of Documentors Workbench (there was a long-standing Sun bugid for
that - it was built and available internally). So I ended up carrying
around my own builds of pic and grap anyway. (grap is the graphing tool
in the family.)
dpost(1) is another tool of the family.

I could deal. It's one of the things I like about Illumos -- that I
have real troff and friends, not just groff. I already pull outside
stuff into my SmartOS boxes, so one more repo is no biggie.

Out of curiosity, would you find it incredibly inconvenient if troff
and nroff were shuffled out of illumos gate and stashed in a separate
repo somewhere? (Note that it is unclear which distros would
continue to ship it -- they'd have the option.)
(Note that I'm not currently planning on this, just contemplating the
option.)
