Just for the record… I do -- or rather Nexenta does -- continue to sponsor
Albert Lee's work (through actually paying him up to 20% for his time) on
OpenIndiana.
Furthermore, the exact *point* of illumian is so that Nexenta resources can be
brought to bear to contribute to OpenIndiana, even if only indirectly by
working on expanding and updating the set of packages that both OpenIndiana and
illumian will use. I just cannot abide the use of IPS in our product -- hence
illumian and use of dpkg.
I am however grateful of the effort that you and the OI team have put into OI,
and indeed, I intend that even if indirectly - I will work to further OI itself.
So, Alasdair, you and I need to meet privately, and work this out, because
clearly we are misunderstanding one another. I'm very dismayed that you think
I'm not interested in helping out OI -- when I think my own actions demonstrate
quite the reverse. (I may not *personally* work on porting packages to OI, but
I think most people here would agree that my time is probably better spent
working on the common kernel and device drivers that we share. At the moment
I'm very much occupied with work relating to future Intel platforms… which I
think we all want to see supported well, right?)
Rationale people will often disagree -- sometimes vehemently. Its *okay*,
maybe even its good. Lets just remember that we're all trying to benefit the
greater good here, okay?
