The obvious is that UNICODE definitely causes a lot of problems....
that did not exist before.

Note that e.g. CD-Text is using ISO-8859-1 and guess what funny things happen 
when people wo believe that UNICODE is the solution for all problems create a 
GUI for cdrecord that allows to enter CD-Text from the keyboard.
