I recently installed openindiana 151a to experiment with comstar and
ZFS. Actually my setup is comprised of:

Target:
Core 2 Quad Q8200
4 GB RAM
1x 1TB WD Raid Edition (not mirrored, yet)
1x OCZ Colossus, 80GB, used as L2ARC
1x LP9802 running in target mode

Initiator:
Linux 2.6 (Debian 5.0)
4 GB RAM
2x Dual Core XEON 2.8GHZ
1x QLA2312 used as initiator

The target and the initiator are both connected to a brocade 2800 switch.

I managed to get everything work correctly, I can create LU's on the
storage, the initiator sees 'em...so far so good; but I'm encountering
a weird (for me) issue.
When the LUN is provisioned for the first time, by means of creating a
ZVOL, sbdadm create-lu, adding the view etc, I get the expected
behaviour: writes to the device on the initiator side (with dd, for
example) are producing only writes to the pool's disks (confirmed with
"zpool iostat"). When writing to the device again, performance is
considerably lower...after investigating a bit, I saw a lot of
reads...example:

               capacity     operations    bandwidth
pool        alloc   free   read  write   read  write
----------  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----
rpool       24,0G   904G    137    254   142K  31,1M
  c3d0s0    24,0G   904G    137    254   142K  31,1M
cache           -      -      -      -      -      -
  c9d0s0    27,1G  92,1G      0      0      0      0
----------  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----  -----

Is this expected ?

Regards,
Simone.
