Several benefits of ZFS include the fact that you don't need to use
identical drives or slice them up to include a meta data partition a
la Solaris Volume Manager. Your proposal sounds interesting but I'm
curious why you'd spend so much time adjusting code when it doesn't
sound necessary based on this snippet of config data you've shared.
For that matter, 4k sector drives have been out awhile & discussed on
the dev lists for so long that I would be surprised if the devs have
just ignored their existence in hopes that they'll go away some day.
