A zone doesn't run a kernel, it is simply an OS partition, so all zones share the same kernel with the global zone. Ergo, you can't "update" the kernel of a non-global zone, all you can do is update the userspace libraries and hope for the best (which may not be possible with things like libzfs.so, which are quite tightly bound to the kernel they're running in).
