Thanks, that's what I suspected :)
I just needed a confirmation ;)

Re: [discuss] zone kernel update
A zone doesn't run a kernel, it is simply an OS partition, so all zones share
the same kernel with the global zone. Ergo, you can't "update" the kernel of a
non-global zone, all you can do is update the userspace libraries and hope for
the best (which may not be possible with things like libzfs.so, which are quite
tightly bound to the kernel they're running in).

Hi,
is it possible to update the kernel of a zone to a more recent version of the
global zone?
Reason is, I build and work on XStreamOS packages and illumos ON inside a zone.
The global zone of the machine runs XStreamOS current version.
The dev zone has now new packages for both latest illumos and Sonicle userland
for XStreamOS.
I need to upgrade the dev zone to these packages, including boot and kernel, to
be able
to rebuild packages and have dependencies on the new kernel.
Is it possible? Or should I prepare a brand new machine for this?
Gabriele.
