The project was started by Sun in 2007 as an open source project; you can see the first commits from Stephen Hahn, at that time a Sun employee, and only a handful of the first 200 commits are from addresses that are not @sun.com. In 2008, because it was an open source project, Shawn was able to contribute from outside the company. In mid-2008, Shawn went to work for Sun. Cheers. -- Joshua M.
