I certainly don't want to defend bad design here, but the nature of an ad-hoc, member-supported organization like ours is that we simply can't build all of our tools ourselves. We can build some (like the new IxDA site), but designing and building, say, a conference registration and credit card processing system is far more than we can do with our limited resources, so we have to outsource. And as anyone who has ever outsourced can tell you, there are trade-offs.
So. Apologies for the less than optimal design of the RegOnline system. It met our needs for this first conference but we can always explore new systems in the future if it doesn't meet the needs of our users (you).
