Have you seen Catalog Choice?

You sign up, browse their list of catalogs, and select the ones you
want to unsubscribe from. As new catalogs roll in you can log back in
and repeat. It's pretty decent from a UX perspective--I've been
using it for a couple of weeks and really haven't found much to
complain about. 

Unless I missed something, this sounds pretty close to MT's pitch.
Not to say this immediately excludes the idea, but thought it should
considered.
