Three initial recommendations then:

Robert's book, Designing for the Obvious
Dan's book, Designing for Interaction
Bill Moggridge's book, Designing Interactions

All of them are well written and easy reads. Each will give you a  
different perspective on interaction design. These three are  
essential for the bookshelf of any serious interaction designer.
