Hi Alex's, I like this Interaction Design Alex's in London. ;) (IxDA ... ha ha)
There are no private discussion lists that are part of the IxDA community. There might be non IxDA related discussion lists about interaction design, but not owned/operated by IxDA. As to the question of starting an IxDA group in London, yeah!!!! It's been attempted ages ago, but that attempt didn't take. There are great reasons to have an IxDA community in London and I hope Alex power can pull this off. As to your assertion about UPA in London. Yup, almost in every town where there is a Local IxDA group there are other UX-related organizations. They thrive as cooperative neighbors and in some places even create co-events ever so often. The primary reason to have an IxDA local group in these climates is to bring the virtual to real. There is a thriving community of 5500 people here on this list (that we know of; and doesn't include the 2000 people on the announcement list), and to have opportunities to meet in person, is really great for everyone here. The virtual and the real feed off of each other. The work that Local groups are doing reverberates back here and obviously the virtual community and the conference (global stuff) reverberates back. Back to London, there were a few Londoners (greater London) from Doppler, AA-RF, and Microsoft at the conference. Might be worthwhile to find "London" and "UK" folks using the Crowdvine site and hitting them up to see if they are interested in participating in some way. -- dave . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
