Peter B. that is a great resource, thanx. What I found interesting about it is the sheer variety and how it doesn't really map against my own experiences with IxDA "so far".
Alex, Niklas or Janna will probably be adding you to the local leaders basecamp we have set up. In that basecamp we are assembling resources which answer these questions. To answer them here though so others can see them and be inspired. Formats can take any form you like. It has many dependencies. In NYC for example, social events don't do very well unless they are all the UX groups. But in other cities they have worked very well. We have had discussion groups, shown movies, had panels, done talking-head presentations, workshops, flown people in from out of town (or caught them while they happened to be coming through), we've done it all, I would say. They all have their successes and failures. Sometimes it is the combination of format, location, talent/name, and topic combined that bring people out, and finding that "right" mix is REALLY hard. The main thing I tend to tell people is, 4-10 people make a really great event. 10-20 is a success for the world to see. More than that is AWESOME! Don't compare yourself to anywhere else, and think big, and keep expectations reasonable. :) -- dave . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
