Now I think it is a dream. Fragmentation in the these responsibilities has not only begun, it has started to harden. And it will only continue in that direction. The current direction in design is for collaborative teams. As such, those teams need more specific and deeper skill sets. I am not saying it is right or desirable, but it certainly seems the trend.
