Job Description:

Overview 

As the User Experience lead you will be responsible for ensuring that we 
develop intuitive, attractive, compelling software.  You will be responsible 
for development and communication of the tools and processes that ensure the 
Experience vision is communicated and implemented across all the stakeholder 
teams. 

The UX Lead is a key member of the Global Software Team, working with that team 
to deliver the overall strategy of an integrated dental software suite. 

Based in Atlanta 
Reports to the Global Director, Dental Software Platforms. 

·         Duties 

o   Work closely with Global S/W Team and other stakeholders leveraging 
customer requirements and usability research to develop intuitive software 
which 
- applies best practices for user-centric and visual design 
- reflect best practices for usability 
- is harmonious with corporate identity and presence 
- is highly compelling and visually enticing 

o   Work with Global S/W team and other project stakeholders to develop UI 
vision and Style guide which reflects best practice and is harmonious with 
corporate identity and presence. 

o   Work with PLM, R&D and selected 3rd parties to develop creative designs 
which reflect best practices and corporate identity. 

o   Visit dental practices; observe and understand where and how software can 
make a positive impact on the environment; leverage findings when developing 
software guidance and UI/UX designs. 

o   Provide leadership and mentorship of other members of the UX team. 

o   Work with Global S/W Team to establish a robust, measurable process to the 
capture and development of UI and UX requirements. 

o   Perform critical analysis of existing development and make recommendations 
to improve their UI and overall experience 

o   Facilitate design, concept and prototype sessions; develop an effective and 
efficient prototyping/storyboard process to communicate user experience visions 
to stakeholders 

o   Develops and maintains knowledge, including reviewing alternative products 
and services, through detailed research including periodical reviews, trade 
show attendance, attending lectures and seminars, visiting industry and 
competitor related websites, attending industry symposiums, and monitoring 
activities of various industry associations and/or governing bodies. 

o   Skills

 

§  (1) Acute observation skills; must be able to demonstrate the art of 
watching and listening, as apposed to seeing and hearing. 

§  (2) An extremely strong comprehension and understanding of user behaviour 
and how it relates to UI design and of the benefits of good usability and 
experience within software. Solid understanding of market trends and software 
innovations 

§  (3) Superb information design abilities, fastidious and efficient production 
and optimization habits, and impeccable problem solving skills 

§  (4) Excellent communication and presentation skills; 

·         a. ability to present project progress to a variety of audiences from 
leadership team to individual team members. 

·         b. Articulate (both verbally and written) vision and usability 
requirements to other project stakeholders 

§  (5) Strong leadership, negotiation and interpersonal skills 

§  (6) Excellent task management both personal and of others 

§  (7) Excellent traceability of decisions and tasks undertaken 

§  (8) Able to produce results independently as well as collaboratively in a 
team environment 

§  (9) Strong skills in tools like MS Blend/ XAML, Flash, Illustrator, Visio 
(or similar) and PhotoShop 

§  (10) Ability to work within multiregional team - good multicultural skills 

§  Strong analysis skills; able to understand and interpret usability 
requirements 

§  Ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects 

§  Must be self-motivated, a good communicator, comfortable with following 
direction, and able to balance great design with meeting challenging deadlines 

§  Experience in a related medical, dental or imaging field desirable but not 
essential. 

o   Experience 

§  At least 5 years experience within UI and UX design and have a strong 
understanding of user-centred design best practices and trends 

§  At least two years experience managing a team of analysts 

§  Experience of working in an Agile environment would be desirable. 

§  A track record of delivering innovative software solutions. 

§  Experience the medical, dental or imaging space advantageous but not 
essential.
