The Pulse was demoed last week at the Sun JavaOne conference and I (along
with a few thousand other Java developers) was able to pick one up at a nice
discount. Some personal notes on the product:
1. The pen is powered by Java ME and exposes a (what appears to be)
complete Java-based API that allows for custom application development.

2. The API is available from the product website to "JavaOne Attendees
Only," but anyone can download it because they have no way of verifying you
were an attendee. There are also developer forums and more details:
http://www.livescribe.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/LDApp.woa/wa/DeveloperOverviewPage
 (Be
forwarned, the license is questionable since it is only for JavaOne
developers and any application distribution will require a different
license, of which there are currently no details.)

3. I've setup a social network on Ning for aspiring Pulse developers:
http://livescribe.ning.com/ or people who would like to discuss ideas with
aspiring pulse developers

4. I'm more than willing to answer any questions about the Pulse or the
development kit. I am personally in the planning stages of a Pulse
application that will be used for interactive "paper" prototyping that will
(hopefully) be able to generate at least Java Swing code and possibly HTML
code for clickable demos (complete with audio notes) from interactive
structured diagrams created with the Pulse pen. I am more than willing to
discuss my ideas if anybody is interested and I will start a new thread if
it varies from this one.
