Possibly, if you implement it in such a way that encourages the
participation of your friends. A good example would be Facebook's "Become a
Fan." When one of my friends becomes a fan of something I like too, I'll
typically click on the link to become a fan as well. My wife and friends do
the same sort of thing.


Now that I think about it... there's some app on FB that allows people to
take sides on a debate and elaborate on their positions. While not a poll,
that's an example of how a poll can be socialized.


So if you take a poll, perhaps your friends could see that you took it, see
how you answered, and then take it themselves. That eliminates the one-way
feedback problem by providing multi-way feedback.


Sorry, I keep having ideas. : ) Perhaps you could use polls to *encourage*
socialization? When you publish people's answers, that could be a discussion
starter. Adding a link saying "Comment on this answer" or "Respond to
<Friend's Name>" or something like that would make that flow smoothly.
