Hello all, I'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts (or even better, research) about the use of those little social bookmarking/sharing icons that are now so ubiquitous. Are people using them? Do *you* use them? Are they appropriate for all types of sites? They seem best suited to news sites and blogs, IMO, but I've started to see them on e-commerce sites too, which I guess makes a certain amount of sense.
Also, how many is too many? I've seen sites where the icon set takes up two or even three lines, which seems a little bit ridiculous to me. And though I use a few social bookmarking tools myself, I have never used one of the icons on a blog post or news story to share something. I'm not a user of Digg or StumbleUpon, etc., though, so my own perspective may not be particularly relevant. All opinions and feedback appreciated. Thanks, Amy Silvers ________________________________________________________________ Welcome to the Interaction Design Association (IxDA)! To post to this list .......
