Are there any social networking sites that allow you to dynamically
visualize your social networks? Are there any that allow you to "tag" your
ties to all the people on your social network graph? The research and
ability is out there - just look at visualcomplexity.com, but my question is
- why can't I navigate through my social networks on LinkedIn, Facebook,
Twitter, Gather, or anywhere else like I can navigate words in
VisualThesaurus. In fact -- I designed a think-client application a few
years back that allowed just that (dynamic visualization of strong, weak,
absent, negative ties - with tagging) - but I don't see any innovation in
the online social networking space that allows for it. Why is that?

Further, why does LinkedIn make it so difficult for me to connect with
connections of my weak ties? If the value stream of a social network is the
number and strength of the ties and the co-creation of content within those
networks -- why does LinkedIn put so many obstacles in my way?
