I see what you mean. I'm still not entirely getting this 'platform v browser' 
debate, but I think this helps. Sure, for their own apps and environment, they 
could (should) make it work in a more natural way. 

Chrome does though also work as a browser, and so (it seems to me) still needs 
to retain the address bar for non-Google-app web browsing.
