1. Deconstructing perceptions and reconstructing in relevant contexts
to reframe the new vision (Codec).
2. Balancing relative impact between seemingly unrelated
requirements, living in the grey land on the continuums that result,
and recognizing the relevance of different points on the scale
between. For instance: symbology choices and business sector, or
shape choices and cultural proclivities, or motion choices and mental
model of the customer.
3. Scanning sources for seemingly unrelated resources, seeking that
spark of creative resonance from tangential influences. The creative
leap comes from new relationships between such resonant and often
surprising sources.
4. Studying many subjects other than design.
5. Transposing lessons learned in other domains to construct richer
relationships in design elements.
6. Continually scanning, evaluating, and applying checks and balances
between abstract and objective.
7. Maintaining a strong awareness of abstract and objective elements,
assess where to use which, and grill choices frequently to determine
their actual value.
