For those so inclined, I recently (last week) got a copy of "Data Flow: Visualizing Information in Graphic Design" which is all about data visualization in graphic design - but since many here at one point or another are asked to do something related to visualizing complex data sets - you may find some of examples are innovative and effective ways of communicating and could be useful in your work. warning - some clearly violate your Tuftian (like Faustian - without your soul involved) proclivities, and some are beautiful but don't clearly communicate information - but still impressive book.
