Can you guys see great conceptual differences between "data visualization"
and 'information visualization'?

Here's a slight distinction:

I've seen these two definitions in some publications, but both are used to
explain the same thing. For example: (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knowledge_visualization)

"Practical application of information visualization in computer programs
involves selecting, transforming and representing abstract data"

Very briefly, I think that "data visualization" refers to quantitative, raw
stuff. "Information visualization" refers to more conceptual models, like
diagrams, flows, mind maps...

What do you think about that?
