About why http://dev.iterating.net/day-care/kidtown version 2.jpg is more appealing: -Better use of colors -Grid based content layout -Choice of fonts used is excellent. -Icons are present and not over used.
I can see the importance of the stripe to highlight the search box but I find the way the stripe 'bends' on the left of the page to be too distracting. Perhaps if the stripes were given the same end/edge styling as the tabs in the 'take the virtual tour' section, the stripes wouldn't be so assertive. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
