Hi, First, the crazy fee thing has been fixed. It's at $40, as it should be.
Second, to address if it's worth it or not - the magazine has changed dramatically in the last two years, as Richard Anderson and I have taken over the editorship. I encourage you to take another look if you already haven't, and experience the new content that we've brought. Over the last seven issues - all of which you can browse online at http://interactions.acm.org/ - we've included content from IxDA community members like: Don Norman Luke Wroblewski Steve Portigal Dan Saffer And we've also included content from: Carla Diana at Smart Rachel Hinman at Adaptive Path Rob Tannen at Bresslergroup Gretchen Anderson at Lunar David Bishop at Maya Laura Seargeant Richardson at frog Richard Seymour at Seymour Powell Dave Cronin at Cooper to name a few. That's pretty damn design focused to me :) Additionally, we've done our best to remove the "artsy swirly things", as I find them just as offensive as you do. Basically, it's a brand new publication - one that revisits the vision of its founders (who also happen to be the founders of our profession, John Rheinfrank and Bill Hefley) yet includes articles that are relevant to practitioners, now. I hope you give it a shot. It's well worth it. Jon . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
