Perhaps Don Norman will set him straight? I see Spolsky is based in NYC. It's an attitude I've run into here more than once during my cultural transition of moving from the silicon valley 1.5 years ago. Yet our discipline is somehow still "hot" here and there are never enough qualified senior people. Believe me, it's had me stumped. Have been thinking of going into process consulting/ teaching just to educate the community here.
