I've been using Drupal for 5 years but only joined IxDA a few weeks ago (hoping to learn a bit more about interaction design). I was delighted but slightly surprised by this announcement because Drupal has such a bad reputation for usability* - but as Dave and Nasir said, Drupal is a platform and you can make of it what you want with enough work.
