Thanks a lot for your responses. The question which I raised was specific to web applications. You can see a rough wireframe from this link ( http://picasaweb.google.com/rejeeb/Images#5312170100417024242 ). The same data is represnted in 2 ways, as a long page and in tabbed pages. Is there a well defined set of heuristics to choose between these 2 options?
