If you haven't already, I'd suggest doing some research along the
lines of a mental model. Indi Young wrote an excellent book on the
topic.

You'll get a picture of what your audience's goals are and you can
steer your project in a direction that best suits their needs. It
should give you an idea of which features to build based on what
tasks your users are trying to perform.
