Dave, you're taking this very personally and emotionally (something you accused me of doing!). None of this has been directed at you and at no time did I "walk in and claim the IxDA should be ended".
You want to keep the filter of people? Does that mean if all of the IAI members just joined IxDA you wouldn't like it anymore? Because that's one solution. But listen, perhaps you are right, perhaps the itsjustux.org petition was hasty or heavy handed, it wasn't intended to be an organization killer, it was just intended to rally grass roots support for an alignment on UX - however that alignment manifested itself in orgs, lists and conferences.
