I worked through a similar challenge a while back and I will try to
resurrect more details but for now...

In addition to looking at the data table from the point of view of
different roles and displaying info accordingly, try using the same
premise for tasks.

In the project I worked on, one role regularly performed two types of
tasks.  And the information needed for each task was somewhat
different.  So, we created a different view for each task with a
toggle  mechanism so the user could easily switch from one to the
other.
