First, I want to say that my recent post on JohnnyHolland.org
(http://johnnyholland.org/magazine/2009/04/function-to-connection/)
relates to this in so far as to looking to art as the source/soul of
design.

More personally, I have looked a lot to traditional craft, art &
design by some native cultures. People may look to the Bauhaus, but
before I knew of the BH I was inspired by Japanese craft,
architecture, and art. It's mixture of minimalism with naturalism
has always appealed to me.

But other artists for palette and texture and use of metaphor have
also inspired: Chagall & Picasso have been long time faves of mine
whom I return to over and over for inspiration. This isn't
inspiration to derive direct translation into my work, but for the
"possible" and the beautiful.
