Do people have examples they'd like to share of what is considered a
good UI for a workflow application? (Roles, tasks, steps,
dependencies, etc)

I've seen things like Gantt charts and other diagram-type interfaces
versus more grid/spreadsheet-type design patterns. Are there any data
on which patterns work better?

TIA,
