I'm working on a survey for our users as part of an effort to get
quantitative data that will feed both into metrics and into a persona
project. I'm asking about usage and using the SUS for the metrics
piece.
My question regards the layout of the questions and responses. Is
there any work out there that assesses reliability, validity,
response rates, etc, for different question layouts?
An example is below; hopefully the formatting isn't entirely
incomprehensible. Basically I'm trying to ask whether it's better
to use a matrix layout, or repeat the question responses for each
question.
1. Question 1 text
very likely somewhat likely neutral somewhat unlikely very
unlikely
2. Question 2 text
very likely somewhat likely neutral somewhat unlikely very
unlikely
etc. etc
vs.

etc
