Hi Andreas,
if you want a digest, you can update your preferences at
http://www.ixda.org/profile.php which offers
- Switch to daily thread digests
- Switch to new thread notification
The Scientific American example is very nice. What could we do to make
this community-driven mailing list like this work better?
BTW, which interface are you using to read your e-mails? I've found that
Gmail is a great way to consume IXDA content. It provides a glanceable
overview where I simply ignore discussions that don't interest me.
Threads are a must for easy reading.
That being said, I am finding the GetSatisfaction model of discussion to
be of increasing interest. Search tools reduce repetition, thread
tagging enables finding, explicit categorization into idea, bug,
question etc makes it easier to navigate as well. However, it uses a web
browser for creating and consuming threads, rather than an e-mail
client. I think that the interoperability that a listserv provides is a
key success factor in maintaining the rate and pace of new discussions
at IXDA.
So, what should be done? Fire away!
- Fredrik
